LOCAL INFORMATION

Crete is the largest and most southerly of all the Greek islands. Measuring approximately some 150 miles long (240km) by 40 miles (64 km) wide at it’s widest point and is served by mainly good roads. Road rage and traffic jams are almost unheard of in Crete.)

Within it’s area, you have a massive contrast in the coast, inland area’s, location, size and proximity of mountains and therefore changes in the climate.

The highest and largest mountain range being in the West, means that the further East and South you go, the less rain you get and generally higher the temperature by some 2 – 5 degree’s. This is wonderfully tempered by the gentle breeze that comes off the Mediterranean Sea. (Excellent for tanning!)

Below is a chart showing the “average” temperature during the months (which of course are taken in the shade), the corresponding sea temperatures and the amount of sunshine per day.
